Changing Earings For The 1st Time

marriages in Israel

Fefe's Blog my attention to the precarious situation of different confessions couples in Israel.
It seems incredible, but according to newspaper Sueddeutsche there are only religious marriages in Israel, no civil marriage ceremonies. Only an Orthodox rabbi, an imam or priest may conclude marriages that are recognized by the state.
These institutions can not Mixed marriages, neither between Jews and Muslims or Christians, or between Jews and non-religious.

is still given that according to Jewish law, or that the only Jew who has adopted the a Jewish mother.

Affected couples have no choice but abroad - such as Cyprus - to marry, as the State of Israel has at least obliged to recognize the legal validity of marriages entered into abroad.

Israel as a model democracy in the Middle East? Hardly, it seems to me rather as if fundamentalist views are dominant not only in Arab / Muslim states in the region, but certainly also in Israel.

If the region will ever find peace must take place on both sides of bold steps to reform and modernization of society.

Just as this now represents, I think it's just sick ....
